49ers Have Longest Super Bowl Odds Among Final Four Teams in NFL Playoffs

  • The San Francisco 49ers have won 12 straight games heading to Sunday’s NFC title game./li>
  • Despite easily having the current longest winning streak among the four remaining teams, the 49ers have the longest odds to win Super Bowl LVII at +300.
  • San Francisco is a +2.5 point underdog to the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The San Francisco 49ers head to this weekend’s Conference Championship games armed with a 12-game winning streak, easily the longest current streak among the remaining four teams in contention to win Super Bowl LVII and their longest win streak since 1984.

However, if you ask the top NFL sportsbooks, the 49ers have the longest odds to win the Lombardi Trophy among the final four teams left in the 2022 NFL playoffs.

According to online sportsbook BetOnline, the 49ers are at the bottom of the latest Super Bowl Odds boards at +300. Not that they are far off the top however as the final four teams are separated by a mere +45 in the latest betting boards.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the +245 favorites to go all the way while the Cincinnati Bengals are next with their +250 odds. The Kansas City Chiefs are not far behind too at +280 odds.

Purdy Just Keeps Winning

Brock Purdy has gone from being Mr. Irrelevant to being two wins away from an improbable Super Bowl win. The last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft took over as the 49ers starting quarterback in Week 13 when backup quarterback Jimmy Garropolo suffered an injury against the Miami Dolphins. In seven starts since then, Purdy has an immaculate 7-0 record and he just keeps on winning.

It’s not that Purdy has been merely riding the 49ers’ impressive machine. Not at all. Since taking over as the San Francisco starter, he has thrown 16 TDs with only 3 INTs with a passer rating of 115.1. That’s impressive for a guy who was picked 262nd overall in the latest NFL Draft.

Last weekend, Purdy completed 19-29 passes for 214 passing yards. Although he did not record a single TD in that game, Purdy’s 30-yard pass to George Kittle in the third period set up a 2-yard TD run by Christian McCaffrey which proved to be the difference in their 19-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

With the win, the 49ers advanced to the NFC title game for the second consecutive season. Last year, San Francisco blew a 17-7 lead at the start of the 4th quarter and lost to the eventual Super Bowl LVI winners Los Angeles Rams 20-17 in a tough defeat. Garoppolo was the 49ers’ starting QB in that game, Jimmy G. will watch Purdy lead the team this weekend against the teams with the best odds to win the Super Bowl.

Eagles Answered Plenty of Questions

The Eagles answered plenty of questions during their playoff debut last week. Many wondered if the Eagles would look as dominant as they were at the start of the season with Jalen Hurts still dealing with a shoulder injury. But Hurts and the Eagles silenced their critics with a big win over the New York Giants.

No question that Philadelphia has been the best team in the NFL this season and Hurts has been the main reason for that. The Eagles are 15-1 SU when Jalen Hurts is their starter this season. Hurts also posted a 6-0 SU record against teams that made the 2022 playoffs during the regular season.

The last time that Jalen Hurts faced Brock Purdy was in 2019 when Hurts’ Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Purdy and Iowa State Cyclones 42-41. In that game, Hurts threw for 273 yards with 3 TD passes while also rushing for 68 yards with 2 TD runs. Purdy however was not outplayed. He finished with 282 passing yards with 5 TD passes while also recording 1 TD run and 55 rushing yards.

Philadelphia is currently the -140 Moneyline and -2.5 spread betting favorite to win the NFC title game. According to early betting numbers from BetOnline, 69% of the $ at the Moneyline and 64% of the handle at the spread betting market are on the Eagles to win. But don’t tell Brock Purdy that the 49ers are the underdogs in the NFC title game, or that they have the longest odds to win SB LVII. He’s thrived with those numbers since coming over to the NFL.
