Cardinals At Browns NFL Background

  • The weather has driven the total for the Cardinals vs Browns game down to 49.5 from 54.5 at the Caesars Sportsbook.
  • Winds of 20-30 mph are expected when the Cardinals visit the Browns on Sunday.
  • 69% of the total betting handle for that game has been placed on the unde 49.5 points.

The Arizona Cardinals vs Cleveland Browns Week 6 showdown had the second-highest total at the Caesars Sportsbook when the betting lines for this week’s NFL games opened. At 54.5, only the 55.5 point total for the Chiefs vs Washington Football Team was higher in the opening odds.

However, that total has dropped to 49.5 at the same sportsbook and is now just the 6th highest total for the week. It represents the highest drop in total since Week 3 when the total for the Colts-Titans game decreased from 52 to 47. That game eventually went under the total with a score of 25-16.

Cleveland Weather Drives Total Down

With 20-30 mph winds expected on Sunday, the weather had driven the Cardinals-Browns total down from 53 to 50.5 at the best NFL Sportsbooks. Caesars may have been more conservative, as they pushed the total farther down at 49 but that total may even be high given the wind circumstances.

According to Caesars Sportsbook Vice President of Trading Craig Mucklow, teams tend to run the football more when the wind is a big factor during NFL games. This type of offense leads to longer drives and forces teams to use up more possession time, thus slowing the scoring. When the winds are really very heavy, they also impact the kicking game and even field goals.

Online sportsbooks BetMGM, FoxBet, UniBet, WynnBet, and PointsBet, have also moved their Cardinals-Browns total to 49 points. Meanwhile, BetOnline, SportsBetting.ag, Bovada, Borgata Online, MyBookie.ag, and Bet365 have set their latest total to a half-point higher at 49.5 Not surprisingly, Caesars Sportsbook reported that 69% of the money on the Arizona-Cleveland game has been wagered on the under 49.5 although 64% of the tickets are gambling with the over.

Overs Were 10-6 in Week 5

Week 5 was the first week this season where the over beat the under, doing so via a 10-6 margin. For week 6, the overs are the favorite in nine out of the 13 games as far as total betting slips are concerned with seven of those overs having at least 60% of the tickets, including 93% on the total of 52 for the Chargers-Ravens game and 91% on the total of 43.5 for the Texans vs Colts game.

Meanwhile, the over is the favorite bet in only seven of the 13 games as far as the betting handle is concerned with all seven overs having more than 60% of the total betting handle. The highest handle for the over is 99% in the Chargers-Ravens game. The over also has 98% of the betting handle at the Rams-Giants matchup and 97% of the total money at the Cowboys vs Patriots showdown.

The highest percentage of tickets for the under can be found at the Rams Giants game where 64% of the betting slips have been written for the under 48.5 points. On the other hand, 88% of the total handle for the Packers vs Bears game has been wagered on the under 44 while 85% of the money for the Steelers vs Seahawks game has been placed on the under 42.5 points total.
