Pick 1: Crystal Palace PK (-115) over West Ham

Saturday, April 29th at 7:30 a.m. ET

Crystal Palace might have failed us last time out against Everton, but some very iffy disallowed VAR goals doomed their fate. The Eagles are still soaring high and playing excellent football despite going winless in their previous two contests.

Wilfried Zaha is slated to make his return early Saturday morning, in what promises to be a rocking home crowd at Selhurst Park.

Interim manager Roy Hodgson has instilled new life into the Palace attack and they’ll look to showcase that at home against a fading West Ham side that enter this game mired in potentially being relegated.

The thinking for this all-London clash is that the pace and speed of Palace within their midfield and strikers will be too much for the plodding defense of the Hammers to handle.

Palace is a young, energetic side and, in front of the rowdy Selhurst faithful, expect the attack of the Eagles to overwhelm West Ham in a crucial relegation battle.

West Ham blew a late lead mid-week against Liverpool, dropping a 2-1 result, and David Moyes’ squad knows they need a response on Saturday. That said, the Hammers enter Saturday in a tough spot and on excessively short rest with a banged-up defensive group.

This is a team that already lacks speed and will very likely get exposed on the flanks by the likes of Palace’s speedy youngsters.

Expect Palace to control the bulk of possession in this contest. With Wilfried Zaha slated to return to the Eagles’ talented array of attackers up front, the depleted Hammers’ defensive group should be overmatched.

Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise have proven to be a formidable partnership in recent weeks under Hodgson. The skill and pace of that tandem should dominate.

Palace enters Saturday at full-strength, and a desperate and hungry team having missed out on two victories. West Ham are in poor form, and many of their high-priced pieces simply haven’t meshed with the squad this campaign.

While I anticipate they win this game, the ‘draw no bet’ market at the best soccer betting sites also offers some great value at -115 odds. Let’s go with that to start our parlay off. Back the Eagles to soar on Saturday!

Pick 2: Song Yadong (+100) over Ricky Simon

Saturday, April 29th at 9:45 p.m. ET

The main event of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night competition will pit two Top 10 bantamweights against each other as Ricky Simon takes on Song Yadong.

While Ricky Simon enters this clash on a five-fight winning streak, he has yet to face an opponent the calibre of Song. This battle has all the makings of an instant classic.

Song is a UFC veteran and has faced and beaten many of the top fighters in his weight class. He holds victories over Marlon Vera and Casey Kenny, and will look to firmly establish himself as a title contender in the loaded bantamweight division.

Simon will look to take this fight to the ground and use his high-level wrestling background to wear down Song. But the Chinese fighter should be able to withstand Simon’s takedown advances as Song boasts elite-level grappling and is one of the best in the division at takedown defense.

Song is a relentless fighter, quick and explosive, and his pace should represent a real step-up in class for Ricky Simon. Song should set the tempo and not be shy about continually moving forward. In a fight that seems likely to go to the judges, that will count for something.

Anticipate Simon shooting regularly for takedowns, but the sprawling and versatility of Song Yadong should prevail across all five rounds.

His pace is tireless and his work rate should score favourably in this bout. While Song enters as a slight underdog for Saturday night’s UFC contest, he really shouldn’t be at all.

He poses a tough matchup for his opponent and Song on his feet possesses a stark advantage over Simon with his boxing. At a plus-money price with UFC betting sites, go with Song Yadong to continue his upward trajectory in a tough bantamweight division.

Pick 3: Tampa Bay Lightning (-120) over Toronto Maple Leafs

Saturday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m. ET

Hockey fans and bettors saw first-hand on Thursday night the power of a champion, as the Tampa Bay Lightning went into Toronto and completely silenced a fan base eagerly awaiting and expecting their first series win in 19 years.

Head coach Jon Cooper continues to push all the right buttons and, despite his group being down 3-2, it’s hard to see them losing Saturday evening at home, given how well they’ve played.

Aside from Game 2 of this back-and-forth series, the Bolts have been exceptional and easily the better side. They have kept Toronto to the outside and controlled all relevant metrics during 5v5 play.

Andrei Vasilevskiy rebounded in a big way in Game 5 and now the back-to-back-to-back Eastern Conference champions seemingly have a fragile Toronto squad right where they want them.

This Toronto core is now 0-10 in potential elimination close-out games and it’s starting to seem like doubts are creeping in to this talented roster.

Expect Toronto to make some lineup changes, but with Sheldon Keefe not having the ability to match lines, it’s hard to envision Toronto being competitive on Saturday night. Tampa soundly dominated both games at Amalie Arena before losing on fortunate Toronto bounces in the first overtime period in both encounters.

The depth of the Bolts is wearing down Toronto’s bottom-six. The structure from Tampa Bay to clog up the neutral zone and prevent Toronto’s speed and skill game from taking over is clearly working.

With Leafs’ bench boss Sheldon Keefe losing the ability to line-match and not have last change, it’ll make things all the more difficult for the Toronto skill players to break through against Anthony Cirelli, Victor Hedman, and potentially Erik Cernak who’s back from injury.

The Bolts have done this many times before and this Toronto group is too passive to knock off a battle-tested group like the Lightning. With a generous home favorite price on them from NHL betting sites, look for the Lightning to head back to Toronto for an eventual Game 7.

Three-Team Parlay Odds

Taking the first three parlay bets of this weekend parlay card, with Crystal Palace PK (-115), Song Yadong at (+100), and adding in the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 on Saturday night at (-120) returns exciting +599 parlay odds. This means you would win $599 dollars for every $100 dollars wagered.

Pick 4: DC Defenders -3 (-110) vs. Seattle Sea Dragons

Sunday, April 30th at 3:00 p.m. ET

After a thrilling regular season, the XFL Playoffs begin this weekend. And, you already know by now, that we love some XFL betting. Sunday afternoon’s game is surely one that will not disappoint as the DC Defenders play host to the Seattle Sea Dragons.

Seattle has been impressive this season, but so too have the Defenders. They’ve been great in front of what has turned into a rabid fan base at Audi Field and Gregg Williams has his team playing some excellent defense.

Just a few weeks back, it was the Defenders who prevailed in a 34-33 thriller against Seattle, and they’ll be hoping to replicate their offensive success on Sunday.

Seattle has started to get rolling and saved their best football for a second-half push.  They’ve won big games against good teams, mostly on the backs of their pesky defense and pass rush. That said, the Defenders have excellent blocking and a mobile QB who can run and throw.

DC will really test Seattle’s defense, having scored 28 points in five straight contests. Jordan Ta’amu has emerged as one of the best QB’s in the entire league and his combination of running and throwing has been impressive this campaign.

Ta’amu struggled in his first outing against Seattle, but by the time his second game rolled out, the Defenders were firing on all cylinders offensively.

Ta’amu can and should expose the Sea Dragons’ secondary downfield, while the pass rush of DC can get at Ben DiNucci and force him into uncomfortable situations.

At home as a minimal favorite, the Defenders have been an elite side all season long. While Seattle’s recent surge is certainly worrisome, the Defenders have shown an ability to raise their game throughout the XFL’s regular season.

Their defense will play to a higher level and their pass rush should swarm DiNucci en route to a convincing playoff victory. We like the value of DC covering the -3 spread at XFL betting sites.
