- Jake Paul has opened as the -130 betting favorite against Hasim Rahman Jr.

Not only does Jake Paul still have a fight on August 6th, but the former Disney actor will also now be the betting favorite to win his next bout.
At +110, Paul had opened as the betting underdog for the first time in his boxing career when the betting odds for the Tommy Fury bout opened. But with Fury pulling out of the bout yet again, Paul has opened as the -130 betting favorite against replacement opponent Hasim Rahman Jr.

At the end of June, Fury revealed that he was barred from boarding a flight at London’s Heathrow Airport as he attempted to travel to the United States for a press conference to discuss his August 6th bout against YouTube star Jake Paul. Fury explained via ESPN that a U.S. Homeland Security officer informed him that his travel visa, an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) was denied.
With Fury unable to travel to the U.S. and the Love Island star seemingly not interested in moving heaven and earth to settle his issues with U.S. authorities, Jake Paul moved on from fighting Fury for a second time. Last year, the pair was also booked to fight each other but just like what happened this year, Fury pulled out from that event, claiming an injury.
Among the latest stories surrounding Tommy Fury is a claim by his father John, to streaming platform DAZN that Tommy “wasn’t exactly in training move” for the Jake Paul bout and that his son was “overweight” when he announced his withdrawal. Now Paul is reportedly planning to sue Fury but before he does anything that has something to due with Tommy Fury, Jake is fighting on August 6th.

And so Jake Paul will be fighting Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6th at the Madison Square Garden in New York. According to the best boxing betting sites, Paul is the -130 betting favorite to beat Rahman Jr. who hit the opening betting board at even money odds. With this, Paul has moved from being the underdog against Fury to a slight favorite against Rahman. But although Jak is now the chalk, Paul’s -130 opening odds are his longest since opening at -150 during his first bout with Tyron Woodley.
Rahman is the son of his namesake former heavyweight boxing world champion. Like Fury, he is a professional boxer with a record of 12-1 with six knockouts. He has over 100 rounds of amateur boxing experience and was a former junior Golden Gloves champion. Rahman has trained under Emmanuel Steward among top trainers and knows Jake Paul well, having helped Paul prepare for his bouts against AnEsobGib and Nate Robinson.
In his most recent bout last April, however, Rahman was stopped in the fifth round by James McKenzie Morrison, the son of former heavyweight champion Tommy” The Duke” Morrison. Rahman Jr. opened as the +130 underdog in that bout and closed as the odds range of +125 to +150. Despite that, Rahman Jr. will be the most experienced boxer on Jake Paul’s resume, even more, experienced than Tommy Fury. Whether he becomes the first fighter to beat Jake Paul remains to be seen.
