Odds on Where Lamar Jackson Plays in 2023 if He Leaves the Ravens

Where To Next Lamar Jackson

The Ravens season came to an abrupt end when they were defeated by the Bengals, 24-17 in their Super Wild Card Round meeting in Cincinnati, thanks in great part to a 98-yard fumble recovery for a TD when it looked like Baltimore was going in for the game-winning score.

With backup QB Tyler Huntley, the Ravens (10-7) were really up against it as 8-point underdogs against their AFC North Division rivals who they had just played, and lost to, in the final week of the NFL Regular Season.

Huntley, dealing with shoulder tendinitis himself, became the Baltimore starter since franchise QB Lamar Jackson went out in Week 13 with a Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) sprain. The Ravens struggled to score without Jackson, failing to top 17 points since his knee injury.

Since then, there have been grumbles over Lamar’s future with the team and criticism over how the Ravens have not already signed Jackson to a long term deal.

So, is Lamar Jackson done with the Ravens? Well, that’s what we will examine further in this blog.

There are Lamar Jackson prop bets on a potential destination, should he leave Baltimore, at the best NFL sportsbooks. We’ll be using odds courtesy of BetOnline.

  • Washington Commanders +700

Possible Destinations for Lamar Jackson if He Leaves

New England Patriots 4/1

  • 2023 Starting QB: Mac Jones

The New England Patriots are the oddsmakers favorites at 4/1 to be the team that gets Lamar Jackson if the Ravens signal caller decides to leave and sign with another NFL team this Offseason.

Mac Jones (2,997 passing yards, 14 TD, 11 INT) was the Patriots starter this past season with Bailey Zappe and Brian Hoyer the backups for Bill Belichick in Foxborough, so this AFC East Division team could really use Jackson.

But does Jackson fit into their system? And will he be willing to play for a team in a city that’s colder than Baltimore?

Jackson in a native of the warm Pompano Beach, Florida and he went to college at the relatively warm University of Louisville, and maybe playing for taskmaster Belichick in the freezing cold wouldn’t be his thing.

New York Jets +450

  • 2023 Starting QB: Zach Wilson

Another AFC East Division team that would love to have Jackson come in and change the dynamic of the offense is the J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!,

The Jets finished with a disappointing 7-10 record with Zach Wilson at the helm for most of the losses and Jackson would be a much better fit for Gang Green.

The Lamar Jackson betting odds of +450 (9/2) aren’t worth consideration here as besides the distinct possibility that Jackson stays with the Ravens, when Baltimore signed LB Roquan Smith, it meant that the team will now more than likely use their Franchise Tag on Jackson.

That’s not good for the Jets who will likely struggle again in 2023, with the Bills always strong, the Dolphins much improved and the Pats definitely a better and more disciplined team than the Jets.

Atlanta Falcons +550

  • 2023 Starting QB: Marcus Mariota

The Falcons (7-10) also had a very disappointing season with QBs Marcus Mariota (13 GP) and Desmond Ridder (4 GP) underwhelming in Atlanta as the team fell short of making the NFL Playoffs in the worst division in the NFL now.

Jackson would be a perfect fit in Atlanta and with this younger Falcons team, but again, would he want to play for a team that wasn’t headed to the Postseason?

With Baltimore, 2019 NFL MVP Jackson has played on a team that has won games, and the Falcons just aren’t a team that wins games, going 32-50 SU since 2018. The Lamar Jackson betting odds of +550 (9/2) are enticing but I don’t think that he will want to play for the Dirty Birds.

Las Vegas Raiders +650

  • 2023 Starting QBs: Derek Carr, Jarrett Stidham

The Raiders parted ways with QB Derek Carr after a disappointing 2022 Regular Season and Jarret Stidham did an admirable job filling in for the Silver and Black, but you know the Raiders will want an upgrade and must be looking at Jackson as well as ageless NFL legend Tom Brady.

At +650 Lamar Jackson betting odds (13/2 fractional), this is the bet you want to make if you make one. This team is ready for some fresh blood at the QB position and having more than enough weapons on offense that any quarterback would love to have at his disposal.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7/1

  • 2023 Starting QB: Tom Brady

Tom Brady might be leaving the Buccaneers, but if he decides to play on, he might not want to pick up and move at age 45. Tampa has been a great place for Brady since he left the Patriots.

If he does stay, the Buccaneers will have no interest in obtaining Jackson, whose arrival would probably mean a total revamp of the TB offense for the 2023 NFL Regular Season. At 7/1 the odds are good looking and this is a warm weather city, but logic says that Jackson doesn’t end up here.

Washington Commanders 7/1

  • 2023 Starting QBs: Taylor Heinicke, Carson Wentz

The Commanders (8-8-1) were a bit improved but still the weakest team in the NFL’s now strongest division, the NFL East, so an upgrade at the QB position where Taylor Heinicke was the starter seems worth consideration for this always rebuilding franchise.

Washington went with Carson Wentz to begin the season to see if he still had it, but with this division having Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott, and Daniel Jones as its starting QBs, Washington could really use a guy like Lamar Jackson.

But again we have to weigh what Jackson may be thinking about a move, in this case to a team across town basically that will have trouble even qualifying for the NFL Playoffs competing in the same division as the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants, all still alive and playing in the Divisional Round.

If Lamar Leaves the Ravens, Where Will He End Up?

Let’s first say that this is a big “if.” The Ravens can franchise tag Lamar should they choose to, which is a big hurdle for any other team wanting Jackson as their QB.

In addition to a monster contract, a new team would also have to give up multiple first round picks.

With that said, there’s really only one option for Lamar if he bolts Baltimore and that’s Las Vegas.

Not only do the Raiders have more talent on offense for Jackson than the Ravens do, they would also be desperate enough to ship off multiple first round picks and give him probably the second largest contract in the league just behind Mahomes.

Can you imagine Lamar in a Raiders jersey? I certainly can and so can the legion of Raiders fans.
