Auburn Tigers College Basketball Betting

  • Auburn moves ahead of Kentucky in SEC, according to online sportsbooks
  • Tigers’ Final Four and national title odds climb as well
  • LSU’s defense makes it a solid value pick from SEC

The Auburn Tigers have turned into maybe the most dynamic team in college basketball in averaging 80.6 points per game (23rd/CBB) but allowing opponents only 38.3 percent from the floor (18th/CFB).

The Tigers used 23 points from KD Johnson as they defeated Florida, 85-73, on Saturday night. The Tigers shot 53.6 percent and held the Gators to 6-of-22 from the three-point line.

Auburn is now the favorite to win the SEC with betting odds at (+200) going into Tuesday night’s matchup in Tuscaloosa against Alabama. The Tigers had composite (+750) odds two weeks ago, and they started the season with (+650) as they were in fifth.

With an inside duo of 5-star forward Jabari Smith and center Walker Kessler, the dynamics of the Tigers are underlined with their abilities and a tenacious backcourt of Johnson and Wendell Green, Jr., who had 28 points in last week’s win over South Carolina.

Smith has odds at (+2500) to win the Wooden Award as he has risen from (+4000). He averages 15.7 points per game and shoots 44.4 percent from three as he is drawing favorable comparisons to NBA star Kevin Durant.

Please Note:
Auburn has climbed to (+2800) odds to win the national championship while the Tigers are now at (+650) to get to the Final Four.

Florida played a solid game with its backs kind of against the wall after losing its SEC opener to Alabama. Colin Castleton had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The Gators’ defense has been strong overall but in SEC play, it has given up 46.1 percent to two offensive behemoths in Auburn and Alabama. The Gators are posted up at (+1400) to win the SEC as the key his finding consistent offense.

Florida shoots only 42.9 percent from the field (252nd/CBB) and 31.2 percent from behind the arc (283rd/CBB). Florida is at (+1800) to make it to back to the Final Four for the first time since 2007 with a (+7000) number to win the national championship Currently, Kentucky is still in second at (+330) with Alabama posting (+500) odds to win the SEC. The Wildcats were the preseason favorite (+325) with a composite (+290) in December.

The Wildcats dusted off last week’s 65-60 loss to LSU as Oscar Tshiebwe netted 29 points and grabbed 12 boards and Kentucky knocked out Georgia, 92-77. The ‘Cats shot 57.1 percent from the field as Davion Mintz came off the bench for 19 points.

Tshiebwe (16.1 ppg, 15.2 rpg) is getting (+1200) odds to win the Wooden Award as he is tied with Ohio State’s EJ Liddell and Kofi Cockburn from Illinois.

Kentucky is at (+500) to get to the Final Four as the Wildcats are looking to get back there for the first time since 2015. The Wildcats are listed at (+2200) to win their first national championship since 2012.

Alabama lost at Missouri as the Tigers shot 49.2 percent behind 30 points from Kobe Brown.

The Tide was listed at (+450) to win the SEC in the preseason and had a composite (+300) in mid-December as the Crimson Tide was the favorite to win the SEC.

LSU Drops Tennessee behind Eason’s 24

The LSU Tigers are at a (+650) odds, which place them at fourth in the SEC after Tari Eason scored 24 points, and the Tigers held Tennessee to 38.8 percent from the floor in Saturday night’s 79-67 win over the Vols.

Will Wade’s team is No. 1 in the nation defensively in giving up 34.9 percent per game and 58.6 points per outing (5th/CFB).

LSU started the season with odds at (+800) which was good for sixth in the league, and was a composite (+950) on Dec. 20.

Darius Days (14.3 ppg, 7.9 rpg) is a seasoned leader as a senior for the Tigers, who are poised with (+1100) odds to get to the Final Four and then (+4500) to win the national championship.

Please Note:
Tennessee has started 1-2 in the SEC which shows the depth of this league. Tennessee has taken a league-high 29.0 threes, but has only made 26.4 percent (14th/SEC) of those. The Volunteers are currently garnering (+1000) odds to win the SEC championship, fifth in the league.

Freshman Kennedy Chandler (13.8 ppg, 5.4 apg, 2.3 spg) is leading Tennessee in scoring and assists. He was the No. 6 player, overall, in the Class of 2021.

Chandler and Santiago Vescovi fashion a solid backcourt for coach Rick Barnes. The key as to how far Tennessee can go is how well Olivier Nkamhoua or freshman Brandon Huntley-Hatfield can solidify the interior as sixth-year Vol John Fulkerson struggled against more athletic big men as we saw vs. LSU.

Tennessee’s odds to get to the Final Four are posted at (+1000), and they are at (+4000) to win the national championship.
