Sportsbooks Reopen Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury as Pick’Em Bout

  • Jake Paul versus Tommy Fury is now a pick’em fight with both fighters reopening at -115 odds for their latest booking.
  • Paul and Fury have reportedly agreed to a February 25 showdown in Saudi Arabia.
  • Fury was the betting favorite during the first two failed bookings but with Paul recently beating Anderson Silva, the fight is now perceived as an even bout.

Jake Paul versus Tommy Fury is a pick’em fight according to oddsmakers after reports surfaced that the longtime social media rivals have agreed (again) to a bout on February 25.

Tyson Fury’s half-brother had opened as the -150 betting favorite at the BetOnline App to hand the YouTube star-turned-celebrity-professional-boxer the first defeat of his boxing career. Meanwhile, Paul hit the betting boards as the +120 underdog when they were first booked to fight on December 18, 2021. That bout did not materialize as Fury suffered a rib injury and bacterial infection that forced him to withdraw.

The two were rebooked to meet last August 6, 2022, in a dual-main event at the Madison Square Garden and Fury reopened as the -130 favorite and Paul the even-money bottom dog. But for the second time, the fight was canceled due to visa issues encountered by the British boxer-reality star.

Will the third time be the charm?

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury a “Done Deal” For February 25

According to a report from ESPN, Jake Paul and Tommy Fury have agreed to fight on February 25 in Saudi Arabia. This marks the third time that a date has been penciled in for these two fighters and hopefully, this will be the last. Paul and Fury have gone back and forth in social media for nearly two years now and yet the first punch inside the boxing ring has not been thrown.

The report says that further details about the fight, including the specific venue, broadcast distribution, the number of rounds in the fight, and the other bouts included in the event will be announced very soon. Inside Fighting was the first to divulge the news of the fight agreement and MMA writer Ariel Helwani, a reliable combat sports journalist, also wrote about the new booking between the two.

Fury was once touted to be the first fighter to defeat Jake Paul when the fight between the two was first mentioned more than one year ago. But a lot has changed since then, and Paul is coming off perhaps the most impressive win of his highly-publicized undefeated six-fight professional boxing career when he beat former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva via a convincing unanimous decision last October.

Jake Paul Drops Anderson Silva En Route to Decision Win

Although Silva was well into his 40s, the former UFC champion was supposed to give Paul the biggest test of his often-criticized professional boxing career. Prior to their bout, Silva had beaten former boxing world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a professional boxing match and the Brazilian was arguably the best boxer ( or striker ) that Paul had ever faced.

But Paul outworked and outboxed Silva in their 8-round boxing match, throwing 336 punches against 251 while landing 83 total punches versus 79 for Silva. The Brazilian landed more power punches at 66 against 51 but Paul out-jabbed him 32-13 and connected on more body punches at 30 to 13 and dropped Silva in the 8th for good measure. The judges scored the bout 77-74, 78-73, and 78-73 in favor of the former YouTube and Disney actor.

Meanwhile, Fury is coming off a victory over unknown fighter Daniel Bocianski who was a massive +1500 betting underdog in their April 2022 bout. The 23-year-old from Manchester, England is also undefeated at 8-0 with four knockouts as a professional boxer. However, like Jake Paul, his record is dubious and with Jake Paul “proving” himself as a boxer against Anderson Silva, both fighters opened at similar -115 odds when the latest chapter of their rivalry was announced earlier this week.
