Spence is defending three welterweight belts on Saturday night. The WBC, WBA, and IBF welterweight titles will be on the line against Crawford. His opponent isn’t going into the fight empty-handed. Crawford enters the bout with the WBO welterweight title in his possession.

The fight will broadcast live on Showtime PPV, for the staggering price of $84.99. Despite the high price tag, Spence vs Crawford is well-worth considering purchasing if there is only one PPV that you buy in 2023.

Let’s take a look at the latest Spence vs Crawford odds and prop bets from the best boxing betting sites, and make our predictions on this long-awaited bout.

Spence vs Crawford Betting Odds

The following Spence vs. Crawford odds are courtesy of Bovada:

FIGHTERMONEYLINETOTAL ROUNDS
Errol Spence Jr.+135Over 10.5 (-275)
Terence Crawford-165Under 10.5 (+200)

Crawford opened as a -135 betting favorite over Spence at Bovada. He was even lower at other online betting sites when the Spence vs Crawford odds were released for the first time.

Bettors have favored Crawford, as his odds have grown over the last year to -165 or higher. The consensus over the last few years has been that Spence vs Crawford is a coin-flip fight. However, as we’ve gotten closer to fight night, sportsbooks are clearly leaning towards Crawford.

Errol Spence’s Recent Fights

Spence has not stepped into the ring in over a year. On April 16, 2022, Spence handled his business with a convincing performance against Cuba’s Yordenis Ugas after the fight was stopped. Ugas’ eye was swollen shut in Round 10 to cause the stoppage.

Spence was a huge favorite in the fight at -600 odds. Ugas didn’t stand a chance, but he made things interesting in the sixth round. He connected with a right hand to send Spence’s mouthpiece flying out of his mouth.

The referee allowed Spence to retrieve his mouthpiece, which allowed him to regroup, and regroup, he did. Despite the incident, Spence recovered to dominate the rest of the fight, as he landed 216 punches to just 96 for Ugas.

192 power punches connected for Spence, while Ugas had 77 power punches1. Ugas’ only chance was to get on Spence when he had him on the ropes in Round 6. Spence’s endurance was too much in the later rounds.

The 33-year-old left with the IBF, WBA, and WBC welterweight titles at AT&T Stadium. This came after a two-year absence for Spence. He should be in fine shape after beating Ugas to stay a perfect 28-0-0 last April.

On December 5, 2020, Spence cruised past Danny Garcia by unanimous decision after overcoming a serious car wreck. Garcia won some rounds, but the -400 favorite was too much to hold down. Spence successfully defended his IBF and WBC belts in the win.

The judges scored Spence’s win 116-112, 116-112, 117-1112. The fight was not close in any capacity. However, Crawford is a big step up from Ugas and Garcia. Spence is in unchartered territories as an underdog.

Terence Crawford’s Recent Fights

The favorite in the fight has been on a torrid KO pace dating back to 2016. It has been seven years since Crawford went the distance in a win over Viktor Postol.

Crawford has won eight straight fights by TKO/KO3. In his latest fight, the 35-year-old welterweight finished David Avanesyan in Round 6 with a KO in front of a home crowd in Nebraska on December 10, 2022.

Crawford, a -1800 favorite, opened the fight leading with his left, but had more success after switching to his right. Avanesyan provided a decent challenge in the early rounds. However, once Crawford was able to get comfortable, it was game over.

According to CompuBox, Crawford connected with a total of 80 punches and 54 power punches. Conversely, Avanesyan’s effort wasn’t as successful, with 48 punches and 44 power punches delivered to Crawford4.

Crawford has not taken a year off since beginning his career in 2008. He’s fought at least once every year. In 2021, Crawford ended Shawn Porter with a TKO in Round 10 as a -900 favorite. Following the loss, Porter announced his retirement from boxing5.

CompuBox had this fight closer than the Avanesyan fight. In fact, Porter landed more power punches, with 67 to 65. However, Crawford had the edge in total punches, with 98 over Porter’s 786.

Porter ran out of gas in the later rounds and Crawford seized the opportunity. After standing up from a powerful blow, the match ended as Porter’s father and trainer, Kenny Porter, threw in the white towel.

Crawford is the best that Spence has seen in his career. However, the same can be said for Crawford. Spence is easily the toughest boxer he’s had to deal with since his rookie year in 2008.

This fight has been years in the making between Spence and Crawford. Boxing fans were hoping to see these two go head-to-head a few years ago. Fortunately, both men are still in peak form to make this a can’t-miss fight.

Chess Match In Las Vegas

There is a reason that both of these fighters are undefeated. Spence and Crawford are two of the craftiest welterweights to ever step into a boxing ring. Whoever wins, stands a terrific chance of going undefeated in their careers.

The first fighter to make a mistake might pay for it with a loss. Against inferior opponents, one or two critical errors can be made up later in the fight. However, Spence and Crawford will be able to pick up and exploit these missteps.

This fight is going to be a chess match between two pugilistic grand masters. With that said, the strategy and approach will be different for each man.

Spence is the bigger fighter and possesses superior endurance. He should throw more punches than Crawford in this fight due to the jabs. Also, despite always throwing plenty of punches in his fights, Spence never appears worn out.

The biggest concern for Spence will be Crawford’s power. Expect Crawford to connect with a couple of nasty power punches. In terms of jabs, give the edge to Spence. Quick jabs can add up in a fight and could be a difference maker with the scorecards.

Does Spence Have The Chin?

Crawford has a 100% knockout rate as a welterweight in his career. He is not showing up on Saturday night to win by decision. Look for Crawford to go for the kill shot at some point early on in this fight.

If there’s an opening, Crawford will look to end the fight. Does Spence have the chin to survive one of these big blows? Spence was rattled when Ugas tagged him in Round 6 of their fight.

Ugas sent Spence’s mouthpiece flying, but he was never in any danger of being knocked out. Despite the incident, he wasn’t hurt and continued on in terrific form for the rest of the bout. Overall, Spence has shown a strong enough chin to absorb a critical punch and keep on moving.

Spence’s power can’t be underestimated by Crawford. While we give Crawford the edge for power, Spence can do some damage. In Spence’s win over Ugas, he gave his opponent a broken orbital bone7.

“The Truth” is well-known for his ability to throw multiple jabs. However, he often doesn’t get enough credit for his power. Spence can hurt Crawford given the right situation. It’s going to be tough to knock out Crawford, but a power punch could wobble him.

Spence vs Crawford Betting Pick

Many bettors and boxing fans refer to this fight as a 50/50 event. You go down the tale of the tape and there’s no overwhelming advantages for either man. Crawford’s switch-hitting ability from a southpaw to a right-handed stance should give him a unique position in the ring.

Combos should work in Crawford’s favor, but he has never had to fend off the elite-level jabs of a fighter like Spence. If this fight goes to the latter rounds, Spence will more than likely have the advantage in overall punches landed.

There are some misconceptions regarding Spence’s chin after Ugas tagged him in his last fight. Give Ugas credit for the timing to dislodge Spence’s mouthpiece, but he didn’t do much damage to his target. Spence did, however, send Ugas to the hospital with a fractured orbital bone.

Spence has the size advantage, but how much will it matter at 147 pounds? Crawford doesn’t fight small at this weight. Nevertheless, any small edge in this evenly matched bout will be important.

“The Truth” should have the chin to fend off a clean power punch from Crawford. Spence’s jabs should bother Crawford just enough to throw off his gamelan. Once again, do not discount Spence’s power.

Laying -165 on Crawford in one of the most even mega-fights in the last few years, doesn’t look like good value. At +135 odds, you have to take a chance on the underdog to pull this one out with the judges.

Spence vs Crawford Prop Bets

We have a few Spence vs Crawford prop bets worth adding to your betting card on Saturday night. Bovada has a number of props available to bet on for the big fight at T-Mobile Arena.

Spence vs Crawford Method of Victory

METHODODDS
Crawford by Decision or Technical Decision+185
Spence by Decision or Technical Decision+240
Crawford by KO, TKO, or DQ+250
Spence by KO, TKO, or DQ+550
Draw or Technical Draw+1200

You could make an argument for all of these finishes. Even a Draw has some merit at +1200 odds. However, Spence by KO, TKO, or DQ has to be the best value on the board.

Finishing Crawford with a KO does not seem likely, but wobbling him in the 9th to 11th round should be in the cards. Following a flurry of jabs earlier in the bout, Spence should set up a nice opportunity to do big damage later on.

Spence’s chin and defense should allow him to survive a couple of dicey moments. There will be times when Spence and Crawford will both look like they’re about to end the fight. Expect adversity from both sides through the middle rounds.

The pressure from Spence should ultimately get to Crawford, though. Crawford prefers to take time in early rounds to process information about his opponent instead of going on the offensive. He will not be afforded this luxury against Spence.

It should take something out of Crawford’s tank by the end of the fight. This is when Spence will aim for a finish. Spence by TKO due to a stoppage is a good possibility.

The Bet
SPENCE BY KO, TKO, DQ

When Will The Fight End?

ROUNDSODDS
Round 1-4+1400
Round 5-8+500
Round 9-12+400

The Over/Under for the Spence vs Crawford fight is set at 10.5 rounds. With odds favoring the Over at -275, real money betting sites expect this fight to finish at the end of the 10th or in the early stages of Round 11.

If Crawford wins, it’s likely because he connects with one of his knockout punches. Remember that 100% of his welterweight bouts have finished inside the distance. That said, he’s typically not an aggressive fighter through the first half of his bouts.

Both Spence and Crawford will be swinging for the win as we approach Round 12. It should be a must-see exchange at T-Mobile Arena. We like a Round 9-12 TKO finish at +400.

Will The Fight Go The Distance?

BETODDS
Yes-205
No+155

Following our previous two prop bets, you know the direction that we are heading in for this wager. The Spence vs Crawford odds for going the distance do not present the best value. Sure, it can go the distance, but betting it at -205 odds isn’t a strong bet in this bout.

Betting “No” is insurance for the Round 9-12 wager. It doesn’t matter what round the fight ends for this bet. As long as the fight doesn’t go to a decision, whether it’s a Round 1 or Round 12 finish, the bet wins.

We do not expect to see a quick boxing match on Saturday night. It should extend late into the Las Vegas night. But, if you are not as confident, bet on this prop at Bovada to give yourself 12 rounds to work with for a TKO, KO, or DQ.
