The No. 1 player in the world, Jon Rahm, is favored to win The Players Championship. However, he has some company at the top, as Rahm and Rory McIlroy are co-favorites according to online betting sites.

Where Is The Players Championship Played?

TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, southeast of Jacksonville, is the home of The Players Championship.

The Players Championship has been played at TPC Sawgrass 41 times since 1982. Jerry Pate won the inaugural tournament at this course⁷.

The TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course was specifically designed to host The Players Championship. The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is a 72-par course covering 7,301 yards⁸.

LIV Golf’s Cameron Smith had some memorable wins in his final season on the PGA Tour. Along with a win at The Open in Scotland, Smith won The Players Championship in 2022⁹.

Smith will not be present at TPC Sawgrass to defend his title after defecting to LIV Golf. However, there are reports that he might show up to watch the event as a fan¹⁰.

The latest winner in The Players Championship, playing this year, is Justin Thomas who edged out Lee Westwood by a stroke to win at TPC Sawgrass in 2021¹¹.

The only weather concern is on Friday when there is a chance of showers. However, with a chance of rain currently at 42%, do not expect a complete rainout.

Jon Rahm (+900)

Now is probably the time to bet on Jon Rahm. He has been favored to win most events this season. However, there was no value in betting him at +500 or +600.

As he creeps up towards +1000, there is finally a strong opportunity to back the No. 1 player in the world. Rahm has been the most dominant golfer on the PGA Tour this season.

He collapsed last season after a solid start in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. That was unfortunate for Rahm, but every golfer, even the best in the world, will have a bad round or two.

Because Rahm regressed slightly, we are getting better value on him this week at The Players Championship. That is good news for bettors that want to back Rahm.

Rahm has dominated the leaderboard and statistically this season. He has three wins, six Top 10 outings, and made the cut in all seven appearances¹³.

The 28-year-old rates the best on most metrics on the PGA Tour. He leads in scoring average, birding average, and SG: Total. He also ranks third in reaching greens in regulation¹⁴.

Despite getting tripped up following a quality start last week, expect Rahm to be in top form at TPC Sawgrass. With his odds to win the event at +900, there is an opening to bet on him at this price.

Tyrrell Hatton (+3300)

The Englishman must feel confident going into Florida following a solid showing at this course last year. Tyrrell Hatton finished T13 with a respectable score of -6¹⁵.

It was a nice response for Hatton after missing the cut a year earlier¹⁶. Hatton has clearly shown improvement in his game from two years ago.

He has been in decent form entering The Players in 2023. The Englishman is coming off a stellar performance in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Hatton finished T4 alongside Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, and Scottie Scheffler¹⁷. It is the second event Hatton has finished in the Top 10 this season.

Despite not being the flashiest golfer on the Tour, Hatton ranks among the best in several key metrics. He is in the Top 10 in scoring average, SG: Total, SG: Tee-to-Green, and SG: Off-the-Tee in 2022-23¹⁸.

Hatton is a sneaky pick to win The Players Championship at +3300. He is worth considering a small wager on, especially at these odds.  

Keegan Bradley (+4000)

For our final pick at The Players Championship, we have another big value bet to win. Keegan Bradley returns to a place where he has been successful at in the past.

Bradley came up short last year, but he put together another strong showing at TPC Sawgrass. He hit the ball well and finished 5th with a final score of -9¹⁹.

It was the second time since 2016 that Bradley has notched a Top 10 performance at TPC Sawgrass. Bradley was also in good form last week, with a T10 effort in the Arnold Palmer Invitational²⁰.

He has a win and four Top 10 finishes so far in 2022-23. Bradley won the ZOZO Championship on October 16 and then came up short on January 28, at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he finished 2nd²¹.

It was a valiant effort, but Max Homa had a two-shot advantage over Bradley at Torrey Pines in San Diego²². In any case, Bradley has been in much better form than his odds suggest at +4000.

Bradley is eighth in total driving efficiency, which should help him at TPC Sawgrass. Additionally, Bradley is a respectable 25th in scoring average on the PGA Tour this season²³.

The oddsmakers are not respecting Bradley at +4000. We see this as an opportunity to bet on the 36-year-old native of Vermont at a great price.
