2023 MLB Rookie of the Year Odds and Predictions

The 2023 MLB Rookie of the Year race is heading to an anti-climactic finish in the National League and American League. All signs from the MLB Rookie of the Year odds suggest that voters have already made up their minds.

The Arizona Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll and Baltimore Orioles’ Gunnar Henderson have established themselves as the odds-on favorites to win the NL and AL Rookie of the Year awards. It would be an unbelievable shocker if someone besides Carroll and Henderson won.

Nevertheless, this isn’t over until the votes are tallied and winners are named. There is an opportunity to get rich on the MLB Rookie of the Year odds if you know something that the rest of us don’t. There are some big underdog odds available at MLB betting sites.

Let’s delve into the final update for the MLB NL and AL Rookie of the Year odds. Also, head below to check out our MLB Rookie of the Year predictions.

2023 NL Rookie of the Year Odds

The following NL Rookie of the Year odds 2023 are courtesy of BetUS:

PLAYERODDS
Corbin Carroll (Diamondbacks)-20000
Kodai Senga (Mets)+7500
Spencer Steer (Reds)+15000
James Outman (Dodgers)+15000

The Diamondbacks’ Carroll entered the season as the NL Rookie of the Year favorite at +350 odds. In five months, Carroll has jumped to a -20000 betting favorite to win the NL Rookie of the Year at sports betting sites.

In other words, the star center fielder has an implied probability of 99.5 percent chance of winning the top rookie honor in the National League. Are the odds justified on Carroll to win NL Rookie of the Year?

The 16th overall selection of the 2019 MLB Draft has the numbers to back up his lofty MLB Rookie of the Year odds. In 536 at-bats, Carroll is hitting .284 with 73 RBIs and 25 home runs.

He has also been incredibly efficient on the bases, as Carroll has stolen 50 bases in his rookie season. With a .361 OBP, Carroll has reached base safely often in 20231.

Carroll leads all National League rookies with 25 home runs, 50 stolen bases, and a .361 OBP. Additionally, Carroll is first with a .507 slugging percentage and .868 OPS.

There are several variables that separate Carroll from the competition, but the 50 stolen bases afford him a significant edge. The New York Yankees’ Anthony Volpe is second among rookies in MLB with 24 stolen bases, behind Carroll’s 502.

For another barometer of Carroll’s impact, look at what the Diamondbacks have accomplished this season. In 2022, the Diamondbacks finished fourth in the NL West at 74-88. This year, they’ve been competitive at 81-73 and second in the division.

Carroll’s most notable rival for the NL Rookie of the Year is the New York Mets’ Kodai Senga. Senga is in a unique position of being a 30-year-old rookie and a pitcher in contention for Rookie of the Year honors.

The right-hander from Japan has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets. In 28 starts, Senga’s ERA is 2.96 with a 1.22 WHIP3. He wasn’t that far off from getting into contention for the NL Cy Young.

He won’t win, but Senga deserves recognition for what he’s accomplished in his first major league season. Instead, expect to see Carroll winning the 2023 NL Rookie of the Year award.

You will have to bet $20,000 to win $100 on this wager. That’s a no-go for us at those odds, but Carroll is the only logical choice for voters.

The Bet
CORBIN CARROLL
-20000

2023 AL Rookie of the Year Odds

The following AL Rookie of the Year odds 2023 are courtesy of BetUS:

PLAYERODDS
Gunnar Henderson (Orioles)-5000
Josh Jung (Rangers)+3000
Triston Casas (Red Sox)+3500
Masataka Yoshida (Red Sox)+9000

The clear AL Rookie of the Year favorite is Orioles’ shortstop Gunnar Henderson. While Henderson’s Rookie of the Year odds aren’t as lofty as Carroll’s, he likely has the AL Rookie of the Year locked up.

According to Henderson’s -5000 odds, he has a 98 percent probability of winning the AL Rookie of the Year. Texas’ Josh Jung and Boston’s Triston Casas fans are trying to stay positive, but this is an impossible deficit to make up for in the final week of the season.

Henderson has been a weapon behind and at the plate for the Orioles. The 22-year-old has showcased elite instincts in the infield and has been playing well with a bat in his hand at the plate.

The Alabama native is hitting .260 with 27 home runs, 81 RBIs, and 98 runs4. Henderson’s 27 home runs leads all rookies, including Carroll, in the National League.

His contributions to the Orioles go above and beyond his offensive abilities. Henderson has racked up 122 putouts and a 0.969 fielding percentage in his first season as a full-time MLB player.

The Orioles are in good hands in the future with 25-year-old catcher Adley Rustschman and Henderson. Rustschman and Henderson have played a significant role in the Orioles’ meteoric rise in the AL East. Currently, the Orioles are among the top favorites at World Series betting sites.

Henderson had the fifth-best at +800 going into this season. However, there wasn’t a true leading AL Rookie of the Year favorite. Volpe’s +700 odds were the best among rookies in the American League.

Now, at -5000, Henderson is the obvious choice to win the award. We wouldn’t be opposed to the Rangers’ Josh Jung winning AL Rookie of the Year honors.

That said, Henderson has him beat in home runs, RBIs, runs, and stolen bases. Jung has the advantage with a .276 batting average, but 23 home runs, 70 RBIs, 74 runs, and just one stolen base is well behind Henderson’s output in 20235.

Everything suggests that the versatile Orioles’ shortstop is bringing the AL Rookie of the Year hardware home with him to Baltimore. But, we can’t recommend a bet that offers no value to bettors at -5000 odds.
