Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics Pick – NBA January 19, 2023

The Golden State Warriors continue their five-game road trip with a stop in Boston at TD Garden. This is an elite NBA Finals rematch for the Warriors, as they look to hand the Celtics their first loss since January 3. We have the latest Warriors vs. Celtics odds at Bovada for this TNT showdown on Thursday night.

The Celtics have won seven straight games following a 130-118 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. It was also the fourth game in a row that the Celtics have covered. They were at 8-point favorites in three of those outings.

Their best win during this impressive run was a 124-95 final against the Dallas Mavericks on the road two weeks ago. That was a good look for the Celtics. Along with that win, the Celtics buried the Brooklyn Nets in a 109-98 victory a week ago.

This looks like the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics have pulled ahead in the East ahead of the Bucks by four games. Golden State is trying to play catch up after a slow start this season.

The Warriors are going into this matchup at 22-22 on the season. They are nine games behind the Nuggets for leading honors in the Western Conference. Injuries have played a role in the Warriors’ .500 record — notably to Stephen Curry.

That being said, consistency has been a problem for the Warriors even when they’ve had a healthy roster on the floor. Following a five-game winning streak from Christmas to January 2, the Dubs lost four of six games.

Warriors vs. Celtics Predictions

The Warriors have been a losing bet this season against the spread. They are going into tonight at 20-23-1 ATS. Most of the damage has been done on the road.

The Warriors have been a good home team, but struggling to finish games on the road. They are an abysmal 5-17 overall and 5-16-0 ATS as a visitor this season. Their last effort was a solid outing, with a 127-118 win at Washington on Monday.

Boston is going to be a much tougher test than the Wizards at TD Garden. This team has been lights out at home at 17-5. They are 13-9-0 ATS in 22 games at home.

Jaylen Brown Full Participant in Practice

The 26-year-old has been dealing with an adductor strain recently. He missed three games, but was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Brown is officially listed as questionable to play, though there are signs pointing to him suiting up this evening.

With Brown on the floor, the Celtics have a 49.8% shooter scoring 27.1 points per game. He is also responsible for 7.1 rebounds per game. Brown and Jayson Tatum complement one another so well in the Celtics lineup.

They have helped the Celtics to 118.8 points per game for second in the NBA. This is a team that does all of the basics so well. That includes at the free throw line, where the Celtics are first with a team FT% of 83.2.

The offense should push the Warriors around in this one. Most of the Warriors’ problems this season stem from a careless defense. They are 26th overall with 117.9 points against per game.

Are The Warriors Learning To Win On The Road?

In a rare display this season, the Warriors have won two of their previous two outings on the road. The Warriors have not been a competent road team in 2022-23. 117.9 points allowed is not good, but it gets much worse on the road.

Golden State has been responsible for an average of 123.4 points and a 49.5% field goal percentage allowed away from the Bay Area. In what looks like a bad college defense, the Warriors have conceded a three-point percentage of 40.9% on the road.

The Celtics are shooting at a 49.1% clip at home this season. They’ve also totaled 122 points per game at TD Garden. With Brown and Tatum likely on the floor together, expect the Celtics to score fairly easily.

Warriors vs. Celtics Betting Pick:

A tired Warriors team in the midst of a road trip probably is not going to hold up in Boston. They have to deal with a multi-dimensional offense that can beat the Warriors in a lot of ways. In their first meeting, the Warriors handled their business by a score of 123-107.

However, that was at the Chase Center where the Warriors are a different team. Golden State has looked lost and confused against talented teams on the road. Conversely, the Celtics have not many mistakes at TD Garden this year.

Golden State will shoot well enough to avoid getting blown out. When the defenses are asked to step up in the 4th quarter, my money is with the Celtics, though. Look for the Celtics to edge away for a win and cover.

For our Warriors vs. Celtics prediction, we are going with the Celtics to win by a score of 121-113.
