Pick 1: Chelsea over Leicester City (+100)

Saturday, March 11th at 10AM EST

Is Chelsea back!? The sentiment is yes after a convincing Champions League victory mid-week against Borussia Dortmund.  The young English side finally played to their potential, and now we will see Saturday if that can carry over to the league.

The Blues were good to us last week, starting off the parlay with a win, and we’ll hope for even more of the same in the upcoming Premier League game week.

Graham Potter has found a starting lineup that meshes at Stamford Bridge, and though Chelsea are away from home on Saturday morning, they’re deeper and much more talented than a Leicester City side likely getting dragged into a relegation battle.

With Chelsea now entering the Champions League quarter-finals, expect the confidence to return to this talented lineup.  They have only lost two of their past ten away games to the Foxes of Leicester, and Chelsea has already dismissed them this season, back in August by a 2-1 score-line.

The Blues boast a talented lineup and, despite their mid-week game, expect manager Graham Potter to employ some useful squad rotation to ensure Chelsea are fresh for their trip to Leicester.

For Leicester, while they surely want to win to pick up valuable points, they simply cannot find the back of the net.  Their offensive issues have persisted for months now, and they only registered 0.01 expected goals two games ago at Arsenal.

James Maddison is a creative midfield player, but simply cannot be effective against Chelsea’s ball-winners in the center of the pitch.  He cannot do it himself either and, without capable strikers, Chelsea should be immensely effective at defending, retaining possession, and striking the Foxes down on the counter.

Chelsea also boasts some exceptional wingers, and their skill and dynamic crossing ability should really stretch the Leicester back-line.

While it may be a tad worrisome to back Chelsea at the top of this weekend’s parlay given their recent winless run, the talent disparity is too large to not take the Blues at a reasonable price away from home.

Leicester has not shown much of anything in recent matches and, despite Chelsea’s poor road form, the Foxes don’t have a clue with the ball at their feet.  Chelsea needs wins now to continue their coveted push for European spots and don’t let recent results get in the way of good value.  Back the Blues to continue their momentum on Saturday morning.

Pick 2: Petr Yan (-265) over Merab Dvalishvili

Saturday, March 11th at 10:15PM EST

The main event of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 221 competition will pit Petr Yan against Merab Dvalishvili. Although this will be a bantamweight fight at 135 pounds, both fighters pack a heavy punch.

Yan is a dominant fighter, and has been for some time now.  Recent setbacks aside, it should not tarnish the fact that he remains a top contender in these lower-weight divisions. Expect him motivated and hungry to return to the top of the mountain.

Yan has been on the wrong side of questionable decision losses of late and, though it’s bumped him down the pecking order, a big showing at UFC Fight Night should put him right back into the title hunt.  Adding to the intrigue, it is quite clear these two are not fond of each other.

Dvalishvili is on a clear upward trajectory with his results and progress, but he has not fought an opponent the calibre of Petr Yan. Credit to Yan for taking a tougher fight, but he remains a clear top-three bantamweight and enters Saturday evening without many holes in his game.

Comparing the two fighters, Yan appears to have an edge in striking and is better with his wrestling and muay thai styles.  He is active on his feet, landing 5.31 strikes per minute at 63% accuracy and can take down opposing fighters at will.  Those are relentless numbers, which is a testament to his style and stamina.

Dvalishvili is a solid grappler, but standing across from Petr Yan is a real step-up in class for the surging UFC fighter.  He’s nicknamed “The Machine” but isn’t nearly as effective in terms of takedowns or his defense when compared to the more experienced, Yan.

He will look to get the fight to the ground and out-wrestle Yan, but Yan has superior reach and knockout potential.

I believe the betting market is providing us a bargain price for Yan because of questionable judging decisions from previous fights.  Losing narrow split decisions should not tarnish a talented legacy and Yan should prove just that on Saturday night.

Yan is dominant on his feet and his 90% takedown defense will counter what Merab Dvalishvili does best.  Expect Yan to get back on track on Saturday night.

Two-Team Parlay Odds

If you prefer to just go with a two-team Saturday parlay card, a bet of Chelsea (+100) and Petr Yan (-265) has parlay odds of +175. This means you would win $175 dollars for every $100 dollars wagered.

Pick 3: DC Defenders -6 (-110) over Vegas Vipers

Sun. March 12th at 7:00 PM EDT

The Defenders have been good to us so far in the XFL and with these parlay picks. So, let’s go right back to the well for Week 4 of XFL action.  The Defenders are getting it done with good squad discipline and defensive cohesion. Backed by a rabid homefield advantage, the Defenders are the early talk of the league in the 2023 XFL.

DC has been impressive in terms of a bullish run game thus far.  They have already dominated this Vegas squad with it before, and will look to do so once again in Week 4.

The Vipers have been pretty porous when it comes to stopping opposing rushers, and the Defenders are keen to let everyone run on their team.

Whether it’s their impressive backfield-by-committee approach, or even with their quarterback play, the Defenders have been steady all season at picking up necessary yardage by way of the ground and pound.

Expect DC to jump out to an early lead and wear down the clock with their plodding run game.  Vegas trailing has not been favorable for their team, especially given their woeful passing offense.

They’ve been brutal at getting positive yardage thus far and, despite the fact that Vegas is loaded with previous NFL talent, head coach Rod Woodson is running out of answers for this winless group.

Brett Hundley hasn’t been great at QB, and Jordan Ta’amu should be able to throw on this Vipers’ secondary.  Expect DC to ride a raucous home crowd in the nation’s capital to another victory on Sunday night.

Three-Team Parlay Odds

Taking the first three parlay bets of this weekend parlay card, with Chelsea (+100), Petr Yan (-265), and adding in the DC Defenders -6 (-110) returns juicy +426 parlay odds. This means you would win $426 dollars for every $100 dollars wagered.

Pick 4: Manchester United (-275) over Southampton

Sun. March 12h at 10:00 AM EDT

One of the most shocking soccer results of the season came last week when Manchester United erased all their perceived progress by losing to Liverpool 7-0.  You better believe the Red Devils and Erik ten Haag will be gunning for a big bounce back showing on Sunday.

This week, they will play host to lowly Southampton who is seemingly destined for relegation.  United have been solid this season, but still clearly prone to lapses.  After such a dismal performance last time out, expect a renewed sense of focus, energy, and discipline. This club aims to lock down European positions in the final stretch of the Premier League season.

Southampton are oddly not as big of underdogs as one would have thought entering this clash.  Potentially, that is because the Saints secured a shock victory last week at Leicester City.  They are now level on points with relegation rivals Bournemouth and Everton, but will receive a real step-up in class on Sunday.

Expect Man United to not take it easy despite the talent mismatch, and shortened week with European action on tap.  They are far superior by many of the relevant underlying metrics, and should be able to retain possession for the duration of this fixture.

Although Southampton might enter with some added confidence after a rare victory, United’s talent and skill should win out in decisive fashion.  Marcus Rashford remains in elite form for ten Haag’s heralded United attack.

Their skill up top should really out-maneuver an overwhelmed and plodding Southampton defense.  Expect this bet to come in safely to close out another successful week of parlay action.

Four-Team Parlay Odds

And there you have it, folks! Four exciting wagers spanning Saturday and Sunday to add a little excitement to your betting needs this weekend.  If you do choose to wager on all four selections of this parlay card, you will receive parlay odds of +617. This means that you would win $617 dollars for every $100 dollars wagered.
