Women’s Final Four Schedule and How To Watch

On Friday, March 31, the Women’s Final Four matchups will be played to determine who will be playing for the NCAA Women’s National Championship.

The first Final Four contest will begin at 7:00 p.m. EST. The LSU Lady Tigers (No. 3) and Virginia Tech Hokies (No. 1) will clash for a spot in the National Championship.

Following the Lady Tigers and Hokies, we have a heavyweight showdown between the Iowa Hawkeyes and South Carolina Gamecocks. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. EST.

2023 NCAA Women’s Final Four Odds and Matchups

LSU Lady Tigers (No. 3) vs. Virginia Tech Hokies (No. 1)

Virginia Tech is not seen as a threat to win the NCAA Women’s National Championship on Sunday afternoon.

This is despite a very strong performance in the Elite Eight against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Hokies looked like a serious contender in the previous round.

On Monday night, Virginia Tech won and covered the 3-point spread in an 84-74 win. Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore combined for 49 points in the 10-point victory. There were four Hokies that scored double digits in the win³.

Virginia Tech has been fairly reliable on both ends of the floor this season. They are 21st in the NCAA with an offensive rating (ORtg) of 105.4. Despite struggling at times against the Buckeyes, the Hokies are 27th with a defensive rating (DRtg) of 82.8⁴.

Kitley will have the biggest assignment of her career when she is pressed into duty against Angel Reese. The 6-foot-6 senior center has averaged 18 points and 10.7 rebounds per game this season⁵.

Her collegiate career will come to an end soon, which could come at the hands of one of the most dominant women in college basketball. Reese has looked unstoppable and Kitley will need the game of her life to contain her.

Reese enters the Women’s Final Four with 23.2 points and 15.7 rebounds per game. She is shooting better than 50% from the field. In four tournament games, Reese has collected a staggering 69 rebounds for an average of 17.25 per outing⁶ .

LSU vs Virginia Tech Women’s Final Four Prediction

The Lady Tigers have been a Top 5 team in offensive and defensive efficiency this season.

They are fourth with an offensive rating of 111.8 and a defensive rating of 77.5. With a Simple Rating System of 34.77, LSU is second in the country in average point differential and strength of schedule⁷.

Beyond all of the numbers and metrics, will Virginia Tech be able to outmuscle Reese in the paint? Only Kitley can answer this, but we do not believe so.

Reese and the Lady Tigers look destined for the title game. The Hokies have played well in March. That said, Reese will be too much to handle in this one.

Iowa Hawkeyes (No. 2) vs. South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 1)

The Iowa Hawkeyes versus South Carolina Gamecocks is the most highly anticipated matchup of the Women’s Final Four. It doesn’t get much better than this in Dallas.

The woman who is considered by many to be the best player in college basketball will meet the best team. What is going to happen when these two squads clash in the Final Four?

On Sunday, March 26, Caitlin Clark became the first D1 player to notch a 40-point triple-double in an NCAA Tournament game⁸. Clark helped the Hawkeyes with 41 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in a 97-83 win over Louisville⁹.

Putting up monster numbers has been a common occurrence for Clark this season. She is averaging 27.3 points, 8.6 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game¹⁰.

These are insane numbers, but Clark does not play on the better team in this game. As an 11.5-point underdog, the college basketball sites agree.

South Carolina is a perfect 36-0 following an 86-75 win over the Maryland Terrapins in the Elite Eight. There are multiple dangerous options that the Gamecocks can depend on. Conversely, Iowa can be one-dimensional with an offense squarely based around Clark.

Whether it is Aliyah Boston, Brea Beal, Victaria Saxton, or Zia Cooke, the Gamecocks can overwhelm a team quickly. This isn’t even talking about the bench, which is far superior to the Hawkeyes.

Iowa vs South Carolina Women’s Final Four Prediction

Overall, in 2022-23, the Gamecocks are first in ORtg and second in DRtg. Additionally, the women’s squad at South Carolina has netted a Simple Rating System of 44.91 for the best mark in college basketball¹¹.

There isn’t another defense that is as dominant as the Gamecocks. Iowa can score, but when somebody other than Clark has to make a shot, it’s going to be difficult.

She will be working to the max against South Carolina. There won’t be much time for her to take a break on the bench.

However, when Iowa does go to their bench, this is when South Carolina can really apply a stranglehold. 11.5 points is still a lot of points to cover against the Hawkeyes.

Dawn Staley’s team has conceded an impressive 50.4 points per game. That is good for first in women’s college basketball¹².

They will have a strategy for Clark and likely execute it to perfection on Friday night. Slowing her down is easier said than done; however, South Carolina is one of the only teams that has the talent to do it.

The South Carolina Gamecocks entered the 2023 NCAA Women’s Tournament as the clear favorites to win. Entering the Final Four, nothing has changed. South Carolina remains the team to beat.

2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship Prediction

From our Women’s Final Four predictions on Friday night, we have an NCAA Women’s National Championship game between LSU and South Carolina.

The Lady Tigers will likely run into the same issues that Iowa had against the Gamecocks. They will be too one-dimensional around Reese. That works against most schools, but not South Carolina.

Somebody else will have to make a play or two to beat South Carolina. The defensive pressure from the Gamecocks should be too much for the remaining teams in the tournament to handle.

Furthermore, South Carolina will get to the free throw line much more liberally than the opposition. Despite having an aggressive defense, they tend to avoid getting into foul trouble.

As we stated at the beginning of the NCAA Women’s Tournament, South Carolina has too much depth over their opponents. We hope that you took our advice and took the (-200) odds on South Carolina.
