2023-24 NFC East Division Betting Preview and Predictions

NFC East Odds

The 2023-24 NFC East odds are out at NFL betting sites, and oddsmakers are not expecting any drastic changes in the division from last year. According to BetUS, the Philadelphia Eagles are the odds-on favorites to win the NFC East.

The Eagles are coming off a loss at Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs. Jalen Hurts’ squad won the NFC East with a record of 14-3. The Dallas Cowboys had a fairly decent campaign, but 12-5 was not enough to reel in the Eagles. Are the Cowboys in a position to take back the NFC East crown and make a run at the Super Bowl?

Let’s delve into the latest NFC East odds and prop bets that are available for wagering at BetUS. Additionally, you can find our NFC East predictions and how we see the division playing out in 2023.

Philadelphia Eagles 2023 NFL Season Predictions

BETODDS
Over 11 Wins-130
Under 11 Wins+100

The Eagles eclipsed the 11-win mark with relative ease last season. They reached 11 wins by Week 11 in early December. Going into Christmas Eve in Week 16, the Eagles were in outstanding shape with a record of 13-1.

With a couple of late losses to the Cowboys and Saints, they’d finish the regular season at 14-3. Despite a 38-35 loss to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, it has been an incredible transformation over the last two years.

After a 4-11-1 campaign in the 2020-21 season, the Eagles jumped to 9-8 in 2021-22. They followed it up with a trip to the Super Bowl this past February. Hurts entered the perfect situation with the Eagles and made the best of it.

While the 25-year-old All-Pro quarterback deserves recognition, everything else came together for the Eagles, too. Hurts was working with the best offensive line in football. Lane Johnson and company helped Hurts record 3,701 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions.

Additionally, Hurts was efficient as a runner, with 760 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground1. The offensive line certainly helped him achieve these numbers, and they should have another elite unit this season. Despite losing one starter, second-round pick Cam Jurgens has been impressing coaches in camp.

Eagles Win Total Odds and Prediction

Mark down the Eagles down for the best offensive line in the NFL going into the season. The Cowboys will be improved if they can stay healthy, but the Eagles still have the edge here. The defense might be more of a question mark, though.

Philadelphia lost C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Marcus Epps in the offseason. Those members of the secondary are not easily replaceable. Nevertheless, the defensive line should provide the secondary with a big helping hand.

The Eagles are in a good spot to have another productive season. However, the rest of the NFC East has gotten better. Even the last-place Washington Commanders should be more competitive in 2023.

Regardless, the Eagles will compete for the NFC East title. It might be tougher than last year, but they’ll be there in December. Hurts and the offensive line will make this another tough team to stop.

Eagles Exact Win Total

The Eagles are not falling off after going to the Super Bowl. That being said, their schedule is getting tougher in the NFC East. The defense is expected to be good, but the absence of Gardner-Johnson and Epps should show.

Also, Darius Slay and James Bradberry aren’t getting any younger in the secondary. The Eagles will make plays in the box and by chasing down opposing quarterbacks, but there should be some regression from last year.

In 2023, look for the Eagles to just get over 11 wins. A 12-5 season appears accurate for the Eagles.

Dallas Cowboys 2023 NFL Season Predictions

BETODDS
Over 9.5-175
Under 9.5+145

The NFC East is going to be one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL. This isn’t like the NFC South, where there is a clear No. 1 contender. In the NFC East, the Eagles and Cowboys have a good chance of dueling down to the wire in the final week of the regular season.

The Cowboys are expected to give the Eagles a significant challenge this season. In the 2022-23 season, the Cowboys had a solid year with a 12-5 finish.

The Cowboys’ regular season form can look a lot different from the postseason, though. The Cowboys came up short at home against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL Wild Card Round. Regardless of their playoff struggles, the NFC East odds and these prop bets have nothing to do with the playoffs.

As far as the regular season is concerned, expect the Cowboys to shine bright. There is a strong opportunity for the Cowboys to have the best defense in the NFL. From initial impressions, all the makings are here for a top NFL defense.

In the offseason, the Cowboys addressed their secondary by signing Stephon Gilmore. The 32-year-old veteran will play opposite Trevon Diggs at left cornerback. With the secondary in good shape, the rest of the defense should flourish.

In 2022, Micah Parsons was tied for the most pressures in the NFL with 90. Additionally, Parsons led all linebackers with a 19.27 percent pressure rate among players who played at least 50 percent of pass-rush snaps2.

Cowboys Win Total Odds and Prediction

The defense should propel the Cowboys to new heights. Expect the defense to set Dak Prescott and the offense up in prime field position often. Prescott has no excuses at the controls this season.

The eight-year veteran is coming off a respectable 12-game season. He passed for 2,860 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions on 66.2 percent completions. Further, Prescott scampered for 182 rushing yards and a touchdown as a runner.

A year earlier, he was in top form after recovering from a serious ankle injury. After playing in only five games in 2021, Prescott passed for 4,449 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions on 68.8 percent completions3.

Which Prescott will we see in 2023? With an elite defense taking pressure off him, and the addition of Brandin Cooks to the passing game, Prescott is likely to find the end zone often.

CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Cooks are poised to excel this season. If the offensive line stays healthy, the Cowboys will have a Top 5 unit in the league. Ezekiel Elliott is with the Patriots, but Tony Pollard has proved that he can handle the lead-back role.

The Cowboys’ win total of 9.5 games looks a tad short. They should bypass that mark with relative ease.

The Bet
OVER 9.5

Cowboys Exact Win Total

Are the Cowboys being disrespected with a season win total of 9.5 games? They do not have the easiest schedule. But, this still looks too low for what should be a good Cowboys team in 2023.

With one of the best defenses that they’ve had in a while, the Cowboys should play the part. What it will come down to is Prescott limiting the turnovers and avoiding major injuries.

If everything goes as planned in Dallas, the Cowboys can be a 13-win team. At +750 odds, there is an abundance of value on this prop bet.

New York Giants 2023 NFL Season Predictions

BETODDS
Over 8 Wins+125
Under 8 Wins-155

The New York Giants are improving, but are they going to compete with the Eagles and Cowboys? It’s asking a lot.

However, this result wouldn’t be the most surprising result of the NFL regular season. The Giants are coming off a respectable 9-7-1 season. It was a serious improvement from the 4-13 campaign in 2021.

In April, quarterback Daniel Jones signed a four-year, $160 million contract to remain with the organization through the 2026 season4. Now, it is time for Jones to repay the Giants with a deep run in the playoffs.

Brian Daboll instantly changed the culture of the Giants. The culture change translated into more wins. Now, the Giants must get to the next level and compete for an NFC East title.

The addition of tight end Darren Waller should open the offense up for Jones. The former Las Vegas Raider has developed into one of the most feared tight ends in the NFL. Waller is a match-up nightmare in the secondary, when he is healthy.

Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard are likely to benefit from Waller on the field. The issue for the Giants will be their questionable offensive line. With one of the worst offensive lines in the league, the Giants need to address this position before dreaming of winning the NFC East.

Giants Win Total Odds and Prediction

Feeding the ball to Saquon Barkley is a solid offensive approach. Despite a porous offensive line, Barkley is the type of running back that can still have big games without elite blockers. The presence of Waller should keep defenses in high alert mode, which helps Barkley at the line.

However, before the offense truly clicks on all cylinders, the offensive line needs to be improved. In a recent training-camp practice, Leonard Williams and Kayvon Thibodeaux lived in the backfield5.

It’s likely going to happen against a good pass rush like the Cowboys and Eagles, as well. This will not be the worst offensive line in the league, but they need more to win the NFC East.

If the Giants were in the AFC South or NFC South, we’d give them a better chance. However, as it stands, they are a year or two away in the NFC East. Nevertheless, the Giants shouldn’t be worse than last year.

The Bet
OVER 8

Giants Exact Win Total

The Giants are setting themselves up for a nice push in a couple of years. It’s unlikely to happen against the talented Cowboys and Eagles in 2023, though.

If there are some significant injuries, then perhaps we can start to talk, but the Giants should be a step or two behind the Cowboys and Eagles.

Expect the Giants to show small enough improvements to build on their 8-8 record from last year. A nine-win campaign appears like an accurate assessment.

Washington Commanders 2023 NFL Season Predictions

BETODDS
Over 6.5+110
Under 6.5-140

The Washington Commanders are another team in the NFC East feeling optimistic about the 2023 season. Washington is on the heels of an 8-8-1, an improvement from their record of 7-10 in 2021.

Last season, the Commanders split playing time between Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke. After Week 6, Wentz was replaced by Heinicke at quarterback. Neither Wentz nor Heinicke are with the Commanders this year, though.

Wentz is searching for a backup job, while Heinicke signed with the Atlanta Falcons. That leaves second-year quarterback Sam Howell as the starter. Howell had success in college at UNC, but he had to wait for Round 5 to hear his name called in the 2022 NFL Draft.

A year later, Howell is the field general for the Commanders. It can’t get much worse than last season. The Commanders ranked toward the back of the league in offense. They averaged a paltry 18.9 points per game6.

Howell doesn’t have bad weapons in this offense. Terry McLaurin and the progress of Jahan Dotson provide Howell with something to work with. However, the offensive line doesn’t instill much confidence.

The Commanders will have almost what is completely a new offensive line. Four starters from last season are out in Washington. It might be a revolving door for the Commanders up front.

Commanders Win Total Odds and Prediction

The Commanders will win games with their ability on defense. In the absence of Chase Young last season via injury, the Commanders showed solid growth. Young returns to the Commanders’ starting lineup and is reportedly in good shape.

The arrival of Emmanuel Forbes and Jartavius Martin through the 2023 NFL Draft is likely to improve the secondary. Washington went with cornerback help in the first and second rounds. Defense is not an issue for the Commanders, but the offense will have growing pains.

Howell should look good in spots. He might even pull off an upset or two. However, consistent success is not expected. Howell may develop into something special, but it’s a tough ask of him in his first year as a starter. The defense can get this team to seven wins, though.

The Bet
OVER 6.5

Commanders Exact Win Total

Commanders fans have something to look forward to in the future. Daniel Snyder is no longer associated with the franchise and there is a plethora of young talent on this roster.

They will have to be patient, though. Don’t expect the Commanders to suddenly be a significant contender. And, everyone else in the NFC East has improved, as well.

That being said, the Commanders can likely squeeze seven wins out of this schedule.

NFC East odds at the major football betting sites have the Eagles winning the divisional title for a second straight year. We have it closer than -125 to +175 odds, though. The Cowboys are going to be in the NFC East race to the end.

It’s important to note that the Cowboys had a rock-solid season in 2022. Dallas went 12-5 last season and was not equipped with the defense that they have now. With the improvements that they’ve made to the defense and tweaks offensively, the Cowboys are working with a good team.

The key for the Cowboys will be offensive-line health. Tyron Smith staying on the field would be a good start. The Cowboys could possibly have a Top 5 offensive line and defense. Just ask the Eagles, that is a formula for success.

The Cowboys have some good value at +175 odds to win the 2023-24 NFC East title.

Currently, the Cowboys’ odds to win the NFC East are +175 at BetUS. If the Cowboys win the division, the Eagles are finishing second. There is little hope in the Giants or Commanders bypassing the Eagles and Cowboys.

In other words, the Eagles to finish second isn’t a bad option at +175 odds, either. The safest prop bet for finishing position in the NFC East has to be the Commanders in last, though. They are coming along as a franchise, but need a couple of years before competing.

Look for the Cowboys to edge the Eagles out for the divisional championship. In a must-win game, expect the Cowboys to go on the road and defeat the Commanders to take the division in Week 18.
